Do you accept Pets? Yes. We do not charge extra for pets, however, owners are responsible for any damages caused by their pets.
Do you offer a pensianodo discount? No, pensianodo discounts do not apply to rentals.
What is your address? Our actual address would do you no good as mail is not delivered to the door here in Panama and most drivers do not know street names. You navigate here not by address but by landmarks and neighborhoods. If you need a mailing address please email us and we will forward the appropriate address for your needs. If you make a reservation, you will receive directions and a map showing our exact location. All showings are by appointment only.
Where are you located? We are in the neighborhood of Loma Alegra which is part of San Francisco area of Panama City just three blocks from Parque Omar.
Do you offer airport pickup? We can arrange for a private taxi to pick you up at the airport. The cost is $30. If you have more than 3 people or a large amount of luggage or an animal, please let us know at time of booking so we can have an appropriate sized vehicle available for you (cost may increase).
Is Panama Safe? We have never experienced anything that has made us feel unsafe. Most stores/banks/apartment buildings have private (sometimes armed) security. We have walked around Panama City at all times of the day and night without incident. There are some area’s that you should not go, but they are pretty obvious and if you are unsure - don’t go there or take a local (taxi driver) with you.
Are taxies expensive? No. Taxies run on a Zone system and are supposed to have a zone map available to show passengers (most don’t). Fares start at $1.25 and go up by zone 25 cents. If you have more than 2 people in the car it is an additional 25 cents per zone. A fare from one side of the city to the other usually isn’t more than $3.00. Tipping taxi drivers is not done unless they are very helpful. Most do not carry change so have exact fare if possible. Hourly rates should be around $8-10. Some drivers try to charge more if going to “tourist areas” such as the Causeway, Miraflores Locks etc. Most taxi drivers do not speak English.
How far is the beach? Well that depends on what kind of beach you are looking for. Do you want to swim, walk or just look? There is not a beach in the city that is suitable for swimming or walking. You will need to go approximately 30+ minutes outside the city on the pacific side to get decent beach access. The Caribbean side near Colon has a few beaches but access can be difficult - the best beaches in Panama would have to be in the Bocas del Toro area or in San Blas.
Do you need to know Spanish to live there? YES. There are many people who say you don’t need to speak Spanish here. Well, you can get by without it, but knowing even basic Spanish helps a great deal. Most taxi drivers, store clerks etc. do not speak English. If you want to get anything done over the phone - you better know at least some!
Are there good restaurants in Panama City? Yes, and bad ones too. All price ranges and types of cuisine.
Can I buy Organic foods or Health foods in Panama? There is a health food store here that carries certified organic products. They have local organic chicken and produce also. The store is called Organica and is located in the Paitilla Mall.
